Six-Year University, Middle and High School Programs In The Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area

Education is the process where individuals are making a life changing decision when entering college. Universities do their best to encourage their students to fully develop his or her potential; it also serve the purpose of equipping the individual with the necessary assistance programs to get over their hard time in a difficult learning experience. Some students need extra help to fully understand and develop their learning skills in “Programming, or other Computer Science related curricula” this is done through assistance programs.

Through enhanced and/or long term instruction, students acquires and develops knowledge and skills with these assistance programs.

The education is often used to refer according to "Dictionary.com" definition of the term "Education" (the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life.).

However, the word's broader meaning covers a range of experiences, from formal learning to the building of understanding and knowledge through day to day experiences. Ultimately, life experience serves as a form of education.

It is widely accepted that the process of education is lifelong. Studies have shown that the child already in different stages of nurture is educated by the experiences it is exposed to.

Several studies suggest that children can learn while they are still in the womb. For example, newborns prefer the sound of their own mother's voice. In one experiment, they learned to change their pattern of sucking in order to activate a recording of their mother's voice instead of that of another woman.

Reading out loud to your prenatal can be a learning experience to the mother and unborn, talking about exciting topics can be a learning experience to the mother and unborn. Help you unborn, read to them.

Reason:

When students graduate from high school and enter college, they are excited about entering into a fun and exciting career of computer game creation and design or other computer science programs. Once they have made this choice and have entered into a mandatory programming class they find it is not what they thought it would be or more difficult than expected. After a few weeks, they drop out of the programming class, change career choice, or drop out of college.

The reason could be a fear factor; programming requires logic and math, or maybe just the lack of math.

Our program: Altered Planes Entertainment, “a Kansas City game company” and Altered Planes Entertainment-Institute will ask the superintendents and principals of our local school districts to offer these assistance programs to students they feel need such a program to keep them in school and graduate.

These programs require no textbooks, the student only needs a computer which they can access from home, library, or school. Once the students connect to the APEI server they will interact with a professional programmer, and students will be given assignments. The student will then start programming; they will be given a choice on what path to follow, such as games.

The APEI instructors can communicate with the student 24/7/365 and answer questions, but not give the answer - only suggestions on solving the programming problem – making the student think on their own.

Instructors will be able to view the student and the assignment, and see where the student is having problems without being asked by the student. If the instructor sees a lack of understanding they can interact and help the student.

Students will be able to work at their own speed, at their own time, can walk away and return if frustrated, and restart when they are interested.

Once students reach a point of finishing their assignments they can stay connected to APEI server and play games for free. If parents wish to block certain games, that can happen.

Over a period of just one school year, students will be better prepared to enter college, have more confidence, and understanding of programming curricula; they will be ahead of fellow classmates who are not in APEI assistance Programs. Students in the middle school age group will have advanced knowledge and be ahead of other students not in these programs. They might even “test out” and get a passing grade, this would be true for other computer science curricula as well.

Students being involved in APEI programs over a long period of time will increase their math skill as well. Programming will encourage students to become more involved in increasing their math skills. Being in APEI programs could generate other interests in these students, graphic art, data processing, Critical Game Studies, Games and Society, Game Design, Game Programming, Visual Design, Audio Design, Interactive Storytelling, Game Production, Business (Management) of Gaming.

Students no matter if in middle/high school or in college must become a member of Altered Planes Entertainment’s Entrepreneur Internship/Apprenticeship Programs. It will not be possible to connect to APE servers unless they are given a code, user name, and password, which will be changed once a month.

High school student members will be allowed to come to APE, APEI, campus and work along side college students enrolled in computer game creation and design working with APE professional game designers and be involved in the actual creation of a game. This alone will encourage them to stay in school. The membership will run from middle school through graduating from college and beyond.

Global Youth Development and Altered Planes Entertainment, Altered Planes Entertainment Institute will ask each school district to write a grant with their name taking the lead, with Global Youth Development piggybacking on the grant. Global Youth Development will apply 10% of the grant to any district school projects, using the remainder of the grant to fund APEI Assistance Programs to help their students.

Global Youth Development and Altered Planes Entertainment have been in contact several times over the last year with the offices of Senators in Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska, The President of APE has been talking with their local District Office Directors and their Chiefs of Staff in Washington D.C. Each agreed that if any university supports GYDI, APE, APEI, and writes a grant (this “piggyback” grant concept was their suggestion) that this concept is workable and should be pushed through.

Research was conducted on behalf of the above companies by UMKC Block School of Business. A class of five MBA students under the direction of Dr. Marilyn Taylor concluded their was no competition for this undertaking in the area. The community needs this plan, the school districts need this plan, the universities need this plan, so let’s work together and make this plan a reality.
